I build with Honduras Mahogany for bodies, primarily. I use Sitka Spruce, European Spruce, Red Spruce (Adi), and Honduras Mahogany for tops. I make a built-up neck with a spanish V headstock joint, Ebony and Rosewood for fretboards. I build with solid laminated linings, and wood side reinforcements.
Purflings and bindings of flame Maple and Rosewood are perferred, with tortoise binding as an alternate choice.
If you like the lightness, simplicity, and stability of an unadjustable reinforced neck, carbon fiber rods are ideal, especially on a short scale neck. Long-scale guitars will have an adjustable rod.
My guitars are not heavily inlaid, but a few simple pearly shapes are nice.
